Good Friday, also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday or Black Friday is one of the major holidays primarily observed by Christians. The date of Good Friday changes every year as it�s based on the Lunar Calendar. Good Friday is the Friday during Holy Week and falls before Easter Day. This is basically a time of fasting and penance, commemorating the anniversary of Jesus Christ’s death on the Cross.
On Good Friday, In the Roman Catholic Churches the Three Hours Service starts from 3 PM as it is believed that Jesus was died at this time. The Three Hours Service involves a series of hymns, prayers, and sermons focused on Jesus’ seven last words on the cross. The Orthodox Churches start the day with Morning Prayer. The “Twelve Gospels” is chanted in the prayer, which consists of twelve passages drawn from the passion narratives.
Churches are not decorated on Good Friday. It is a tradition to eat warm ‘Hot cross buns’ on this day.
