Carnatic music for christians – What is it ?
The Carnatic Music for Christians (CMC) is the first-of-its-kind initiative to glorify the Lord through one of the wonderful classical art forms of South India – Carnatic Music.
Please Note: No disrespect intended for any other faith/religion, or Carnatic music composers/compositions. This is a true and honest initiative to bring this beautiful art form to the Christian community, with a passion to glorify our Lord in the process who is so good to us.
how is it different from traditional carnatic music training ?
The CMC trains you in Carnatic Music, but will not use any song/composition from the original traditional Carnatic music. We have created all the song forms as per traditional Carnatic music, but wrote completely new songs, with newly composed melodies taking the lyrics from the Bible. So every song we sing here, will glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! (Psalms 95:1-2). After all, the Lord created this world. Everything in this world belongs to Him. And any art form is no exception! As David says in Psalms 150 let us all sing praises to the Lord with all kinds of songs and instruments (Psalms 150:1-6).
